Rich tribute paid to 'Joy Bangla' lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar

The body of legendary lyricist, film director and producer Gazi Mazharul Anwar was taken to Central Shaheed Minar at 11 am, where people of all strata paid tribute to the music maker.

A guard of honor was also provided to him. Later, his first Janaza held at FDC at 1 pm.  He will be buried at Banani graveyard following 2nd Janaza at Gulshan Azad Mosque after Asr.

Gazi Mazharul Anwar was rushed to United Hospital when he felt sick early Sunday morning. The doctors said, he died of cardiac arrest. He is the composer of numerous timeless songs including 'Jai Bangla, Banglar Jai', 'Ektara Tui Desh Katha Bol Re Eber Bol'.

He wrote more than 20,000 songs in his 60-year long career. He has directed 41 films. He received the Ekushey Padak in 2002 and the Independent Award in 2021.
