The dream surrounding Bangladesh’s first nuclear power plant, Rooppur, is gradually fading in the face of reality. What began as a highly promising project has now become a growing concern. Repeated delays and rising costs have turned it into a major challenge.

Experts also question the high cost of the electricity it will produce.

However, under the original plan, the first unit was supposed to begin supplying electricity to the national grid in 2023, and the second unit by 2024.

However, even after nearly three years, no electricity has yet been added to the grid.

Despite the delays, the government remains hopeful that the first unit will start delivering 1 thousand and 200 megawatts of electricity to the national grid by January next year.

Meanwhile, the project cost has risen sharply over time.
