Bangladesh is celebrating Eid-ul-Azha today, keeping in-line with Saudi Arabia, residents in several parts of the country continuing a tradition,that has existed for decades in some communities.
In Patuakhali, around 25 thousand people from 35 villages observed Eid prayers this morning at the Badrpur Darbar Sharif grounds.
Similar celebrations took place in villages of Faridpur, Satkhira, and Dinajpur, where families gathered for Eid prayers and animal sacrifice.
The custom of celebrating Eid a day earlier in these regions,dates back to 1928, introduced by a local spiritual leader.
