Severe riverbank erosion has continued for nearly a week along the Old Brahmaputra River in Char Goalini Union of Islampur upazila in Jamalpur.
More than one hundred homesteads and several hundred acres of cropland have already been swallowed by the river.
Families who have lost their homes are living under the open sky, while many more houses, shops, and other structures remain under threat.
Fear has gripped riverside residents as erosion continues.
The Bangladesh Water Development Board is attempting to contain the erosion by placing geotextile bags along a 120-meter stretch of the riverbank.
