The government has decided to reopen six closed jute mills under the Ministry of Textiles and Jute through private initiatives within the next six months.
Textiles, Jute, and Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muqtadir made the announcement on Thursday at the Secretariat.
He said, the government has also decided to gradually reopen or lease out the remaining closed jute mills.
He added that this initiative is expected to increase investment, boost exports, and create more employment opportunities.
During a meeting regarding this, the minister heard from entrepreneurs and stakeholders about their concerns and facilities and issued necessary directives accordingly.
