Though the Bailey Bridge in Kamar Para is being used as an alternative but it caused long traffic jams. All vehicles heading to Dhaka are advised to enter Dhaka from Gazipur using Tongi's Bailey Bridge. It takes an additional three to four hours to travel the alternative route through Kamarpara. Earlier, a part of a slab of the bridge collapsed on Tuesday morning. Later, the traffic was temporarily restored by putting an iron deck, but the authorities stopped it after 12 noon on Wednesday.
