West Bengal is tense ahead of the formation of new BJP government. Amid the post-election violence that erupted after the announcement of the Assembly election results, the personal assistant of Suvendu Adhikari has been killed.
BJP claims the murder was driven by political revenge. Suvendu has urged party workers to remain calm.
After ending 15 years of Trinamool Congress rule, the BJP is set to form the government, with the swearing-in scheduled for Saturday at Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground.
However, post-result violence has continued, including reports of multiple deaths.
Among them, BJP leader Shuvendu Adhikari’s personal assistant, Chandranath Rath, was shot dead on Wednesday night.
Adhikari has called it a “pre-planned murder” and urged party workers not to resort to retaliation.
