BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has taken oath as the new Chief Minister of West Bengal amid a grand ceremony held at Brigade Parade Ground.
Several leaders of the party also took oath as ministers, However, the portfolios of the newly inducted ministers are yet to be announced.
Other members of the legislative assembly were also sworn in during the program. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government in West Bengal.
The event was also attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP national president Nitin Nabin and several senior party leaders.
This marks the first time that the Bharatiya Janata Party has formed a government in West Bengal.
