Despite the change of government in West Bengal, the state’s stance on Teesta water-sharing has shown little sign of change.

For years, the Teesta deal has remained a major unresolved issue in bilateral ties between Bangladesh and India. 

Following the political shift in West Bengal, there had been hopes that progress might finally be made. 

However, the reality remains far more complicated. Although power has changed hands in the state, BJP appears to be following the same path as its predecessor. 

As a result, questions continue to grow over whether New Delhi’s position on the Teesta issue will shift at all.

Meanwhile, environmental experts are emphasizing the need for long-term joint river management initiatives to resolve the crisis.
