On 7th March, 2007, Tarique Rahman was arrested from his residence in the Capital by law enforcement agencies. 

He was subsequently taken into remand several times in various cases. BNP leaders alleged that he faced torture during Remand, leading to serious physical harm. 

He spent nearly 18 Months in prison before being released on bail on 3 September 2008, after which he went abroad for advanced medical treatment. 

On 5 August 2024, following a mass student and Public Uprising, his cases were settled one by one. 

And after nearly 17 years in Exile, he made a triumphant return to his homeland on 25 December 2025.
