The water level of Tista River has started to rise due to torrential rains and upstream hilly water for few days. As a result, the river bank and low-lying areas of Rangpur and Lalmonirhat have been inundated.
In Rangpur, Tista river water has entered to the locality and the people of Gongachora, Pirgacha and Kau-nia upazilas have been submerged.
As a result, being stranded, people are facing immense suffering on their daily life. Teesta water from several unions of Hatibandha, Kaliganj, Aditmari and Sadar upazilas is entering Lalmonirhat.
On the other hand, water in all the rivers has started to recede in Sherpur, but at least 5 villages of Jhenai-gati upazila have been flooded.
In Cox's Bazar, water has receded from the flood-hit areas of Chakria and Pekua upazilas, but water remains in houses in low-lying areas. Rural road communication has completely broken down.
