Telephonic conversations involving former PM Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader and Hasan Mahmud have been submitted to the International Crimes Tribunal. The calls allegedly contain instructions related to the July movement.
Prosecution submitted a call recording to Tribunal-2, in which Sheikh Hasina is allegedly heard instructing Obaidul Quader to direct the burning of homes and businesses of protesters.
In another conversation, she allegedly tells the then Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud to spread through international media and press briefings that BNP and Jamaat were behind the movement.
The prosecution began closing arguments in the case last Tuesday after testimony against seven accused was completed. All the accused are absconding.
The tribunal ordered the trial to begin on January 22 this year, while the testimony phase ended on August 2.
