Divers have recovered the bodies of 8 people, including 7 Chinese tourists, from Lake Baikal in Siberia.
The accident happened when their tourist minibus, broke through the frozen lake ice and sank underwater.
The accident took place last Friday, and the vehicle sank, about 59 feet deep into the lake. Among the dead ,there was a 14-year-old boy.
Governor of that region, expressed deep sorrow and sympathy to the families of the victims.
He said, the minibus fell into a crack, in the ice that was about three meters wide.
Authorities warned that, travel on Lake Bai-kal’s ice is banned, this season because it is extremely dangerous and can be deadly.
However, few tourists travelled on their own, without approved tour operators.
Local officials have urged all visitors to use only authorized travel services when visiting the lake to prevent such tragic accidents.
