U.S. President Donald Trump has promised to bring the Iran conflict to a quick end.
Speaking at a campaign event in Wisconsin on Friday, Trump said he would stop the fighting through diplomacy or, if necessary, tougher measures.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command says American forces shot down four Iranian drones that were approaching in the Strait of Hormuz.
In response to what it described as security threats, U.S. aircraft also carried out strikes on Iranian coastal radar sites on Goruk and Qeshm islands.
CENTCOM says the operation was aimed at self-defense and preventing future attacks. However, the prolonged military campaign is putting pressure on the U.S. economy.
Gas prices have risen to around four dollars per gallon, creating a political challenge.
