US President Donald Trump has threatened to cancel all trade deals with Spain. He made this threat after Spain refused to allow U.S. military forces to use its bases for operations in Iran.
In response, the Spanish government stated that it is prepared to handle any potential U.S. trade sanctions and urged the United States to comply with international law and bilateral trade agreements.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the joint U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran as a violation of international law and called for dialogue to halt the war against Iran.
Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares also made it clear that Spain’s joint military bases will not be used for attacks on Iran
Following this decision, the United States has removed 15 aircraft, including fuel supply tankers, from its military bases in Rota and Morón in southern Spain.
