Health Minister Sardar Sakhawat Hossain Bakul has warned that tuberculosis is becoming a serious public health threat in Bangladesh and stressed the need for stronger healthcare services and grassroots interventions to check its spread.
Speaking at a research findings dissemination event at the NIPSOM Auditorium on Thursday, the minister urged healthcare professionals to take research beyond academic institutions and focus on diagnosing diseases in remote communities.
He also expressed concern over rising child malnutrition, saying poor nutrition has contributed to an increase in various diseases.
Criticizing the growing number of Caesarean deliveries, he said many infants are missing out on breastfeeding, affecting their nutrition.
