The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, has said that the world economy is “struggling to breathe” because of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on social media platform X, he said that because ships cannot pass through the Strait of Hormuz, global supplies of fuel, transport, manufacturing, and food markets are being disrupted.
This is putting heavy pressure on the world economy.
He also said that the situation in the Middle East is changing very quickly and is getting worse day by day.
Guterres stressed that there is no alternative to dialogue to solve the crisis.
He urged all sides to take effective steps to bring the world back from the edge of deeper disaster.
