The United States is set to suspend, immigrant visa processing , for citizens of 75 countries, including Bangladesh. The new decision will take effect from January 21.
According to US Department of State, immigrant visa processing will be suspended for countries whose immigrants are considered to be among the highest recipients of US. government assistance.
The department has already issued relevant instructions to foreign service offices in 75 countries.
The guidline states that, the State Department will conduct a review of the current immigrant visa screening and vetting procedures.
In addition to Bangladesh, the list includes Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and several other countries.
