Deadly clashes between protesters and security forces have killed several people, including in the capital, Muzaffarabad. 

Streets remain filled with debris and signs of unrest after the violence. Angry residents have announced a boycott of the vote, accusing authorities of using excessive force.

Police have been deployed across the region to prevent further violence.

 Internet, banking services, and transport have also been severely disrupted as tensions continue to rise.
