Malaysia immigration department has detained 1 thousand 2 hundred and 70 foreigners, including Bangladeshis, in a raid on charges of living illegally there.
The drive was conducted simultaneously in 16 locations across the country on Wednesday. During this time, 2 thousand 7 hundred and 56 foreigners and 11 employers were detained.
Eleven officials were also arrested for allegedly employing 1 thousand 2 hundred and 70 foreign workers and illegal workers for misuse of visit passes and lack of valid travel documents.
The Immigration Headquarters said, the drive was conducted based on public complaints and intelligence information.
