The High Court has stayed the by-polls of Sylhet 3 constituency till August 5 due to the rise of covid-19 cases.
Justice Enaytur Rahim passed the order on Monday. A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday seeking stay on the process for holding by-election to Sylhet-3.
Mohammad Shishir Monir submitted the petition before the court. Deputy Attorney General Somorendra Nath and Bipul Bagmar represented the state. Seven local residents and six lawyers filed the petition this morning.
