Man City, Liverpool clinch victories in separate matches
Manchester City beat minnows Wycombe Wanderers with a 6-1 score line. While Liverpool defeated Norwich city with a 3-0 score line. In what could be mostly described as an experimental match for Pep Guardiola, Wycombe Wanderers got a shock lead in the 22nd minute. However, Guardiola’s Citizens went on to dominate from then on with Kevin De Bruyne, RiyadMahrez, Phil Foden, Ferran Torres, and Cole Palmer all making their mark on the score line. The most memorable goal came from young English midfielder Cole Palmer with a cool curved finish from outside the box. The final scoreline was 6-1 in favor of Man City.
While in another match, Liverpool fielded their second team against Norwich City. Just within 4 minutes Japanese attacking midfielder Minamino gave Liverpool an easy lead. Norwich then went to miss a golden opportunity for an equalizer with a missed penalty kick only to find 2 more goals in their net in the 2nd half. DivockOrigi found the net on the 50th minute for Liverpool while Minamino scored his 2nd in the dying minutes to hand Liverpool a 3-0 victory.
