The government likely to extend the contract deadline five furnace oil-based quick rental power plants for second phase.

This period is being extended through negotiations under special provisions for speedy supply of electricity and fuel.

A meeting of the proposal processing committee is scheduled to be held at the power department on Tuesday to verify the terms of the extension and fix the tariff for the extension.

Among the furnace oil-based plants in the process of extension are Khulna Power Company (KPCL), one jointly owned by Summit Group, two by Orion Group and the other two by United and Summit Group.

All these 5 centers were constructed without any tender under special provisions. It came into production in 2011. In 2016, the contract was renewed for 5 years.
