The rains caused waterlogging in the low-lying areas of Chawkbazar, Katalganj, Sholakbahar, Bakalia, Bahaddarhat andAgrabad. As a result, traffic jam has been created in Muradpur and gate number two areas of the city.

Working people and school-college students are facing immense suffering in the area. The city dwellers demanded to complete the work of the quick waterlogging removal project as well as to dig Chaktai canal. A megaproject is underway in Chittagong at a cost of Tk 5,000 crore to mitigate waterlogging.
